Gregory Jacobs is a man known far and wide, by many names. There are few music lovers who can’t recite at least one verse by his alter egos Shock G or the immortal Humpty Hump. A true renaissance man beyond digital underground’s notoriety, Shock G would also perform, produce, and create visual art under aliases including Rackadelic, The Piano Man, Stayin’ Busy Productions and more.

Most recently in 2016, at the suggestion of his longtime manager and business partner Atron Gregory, a lesser-known moniker, “The Piano Man” took his first steps into the spotlight. The sessions, not unlike the legendary recordings of Bluesman Robert Johnson, took place in a hotel room with nothing but a piano and an engineer to capture the magic. These would be the last formal recordings by this brilliant musician before his passing in April 2021.
